Last week I wrote about Sex and Relationship Education and a teeny, tiny minority of people seemed to imply I was suggesting it was a waste of time – far from it. My point was that we can’t rely on it alone, but it is important as part of a strategic method of delivering HIV awareness.
On the 27th February two Private Members’ Bills (The Diana Johnson SRE Bill and Caroline Lucas PSHE Bill) are due to appear in Parliament, if supported they will make Sex and Relationship Education statutory – but this isn’t guaranteed.
I believe that every child and young person has a right to learn about their bodies, growing up, sexual health and about equal, safe and enjoyable relationships – if you do too please take a minute to ask your MP to support the Bills here.
