“When your eyes pause on the ball”

We’ve actually seen some sunshine in Greater Manchester over the past few weeks, I’ve been waking up before 5am on a regular basis and finding it hard to sleep with the window open or closed and last weekend left a club in the daylight… summer must be here! Can’t believe we’re halfway through 2014 already, each year I get older the weeks fly by even faster. It’s going to be C******** before we know it.

Six months through the year and I’m looking back at what I have achieved so far and what I want to tick off before December. I had a great time in February and March working on the Gaydio Project about HIV in Salford, I really enjoyed writing my most popular blog to date – about the Emmerdale HIV storyline and I’ve written various other pieces for HIV sites and media. Most recently I helped out at the THT Activism and Involvement Workshop and next month I’m down in Birmingham for my Online Peer Support Volunteer training – I can’t wait.

No doubt I’ll continue to be busy at work, but I am hoping that I can spend some of the second half of the year focusing on HIV in my community as well as on my blog and the peer support at MyHIV. Not exactly sure what I want to do yet but I’m starting to think of some ideas, in 2011 4.3 out of every 1,000 in Salford are diagnosed with HIV, compared to a UK average of 1.5.

Finally I’m hoping to move the documentary I was involved in producing last year “i am” forward a bit… but more on that in the next few weeks!
